ABOUT ME

Kelvin Barros Andrade is a Los Angeles–based Assistant Editor with a foundation in VFX, editorial workflow, and storytelling. Originally from Boston and the youngest of four brothers, he comes from a large, close-knit Cape Verdean family that continues to shape his work ethic, perspective, and collaborative approach to filmmaking.

His love for movies started at a young age and became a defining influence in his life. That passion deepened after watching Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, which sparked a fascination with visual effects and ultimately set him on the path toward a career in post-production. What began as curiosity about how movies are made evolved into a focused drive to work in editorial and VFX workflows, where story and technology meet.

Kelvin’s professional path has taken him from on-set production in Boston to working in Los Angeles post-production. Most recently, he served as a VFX I/O Coordinator on a major studio series, collaborating closely with editorial and post teams to manage high-volume workflows, run dailies, and support the integration of visual effects into the edit. This role strengthened both his technical foundation—handling turnovers, tracking shots, and understanding end-to-end pipeline logistics—and his storytelling instincts through daily exposure to the cutting room.

He is proficient in Avid Media Composer, highly organized under pressure, and known for being reliable in fast-paced environments where precision and communication matter. His background across production, VFX, and editorial support gives him a broad and practical understanding of how departments connect to serve the final cut.

Outside of studio work, Kelvin continues to cut short films as an Assistant Editor, applying professional workflows while working toward union eligibility. He remains especially interested in the intersection of filmmaking and technology, including emerging tools and 3D workflows.

Kelvin is actively seeking Assistant Editor opportunities in scripted film and television, where he can support editors, strengthen workflows, and contribute to telling compelling stories from the cutting room.
